The most highly recommended test kits on this forum or any other I have read are clearly Saliferts. I am currently using SERA that came with my tank but i plan on making the switchas these run out.

My Aquarium Pharmaceutical kit and Salifert kit for nitrates give identical readings. The APs are much easier to find at the various LFS and a little easier on the wallet also.
The only advantage with the Salifert kit where nitrates are concerned is the low range is a tad easier to discern.

I use AP test for ammonia and nitrates with no problem. The low range can be a little difficult to distiguish between 0 - 10.

I ues the Aquarium Pharmaceutical kit also. It seems to give a good reading. I do agree that the low range can be a little hard to figure out.

I AGREE 100% with the difficulty in reading the low range. I just ordered a Salifert Nitrate, nitrite, and Mag tests. I already use Salifert for ammonia and Calcium. I use Fastest for PH. I would like to know more about Fastest for other tests though as they aren't as complicated as Salifert. Although I think complicated is not the right word...maybe complex. I don't know. I do like that with Fastest you just dump the foil package in your water vial and shake it up. DONE.
Anyone have any input on Fastest for ammonia, trites, and trates????
