Is anyone using NatuReef Seanalysis test kits for calcium and mag? I just did my tests and according to these my calccium is 860 - I stopped putting drops in at a count of 43 drops never did turn blue. my mag is 2818 - I stopped putting drops in at 46 drops - never did turn blue. My water cannot be this screwed up, and of course the lfs is closed by now.
My colt coral is getting really droopy, so I checked my water but with these tests I still have no info why.
ph 8.3
salt 1.024
alk 11.9
ammon 0
trite 0.1
trate 7.5
phos 0.2
just put in a phos sponge to bring this down, any ideas why my coral is droopy??

I would do a retest, if your calcium was that high it would look like it was snowing in your tank. Colts are funny, they droop one day and look great the next. you can try moving the colt but let it sit in new spots for a couple of days until you thinks it looks happy. is there a friend nearby that has a calcium test. i use the red sea calcium test.

no problem with the red sea test. the only thing i would suggest is to do a water change, what is the temp in your tank?

temp is def. important 79-82 is usaully the best!! imo red sea is the only test kit i would use i never have problems other than a loose nut behind the wheel!! hth robby

I had a similiar problem with my Salifert test kit, I got to about 60 drops and stopped. Somebody told me that these kits that use this swirling method (not sure of the exact name) to measure the ca. do not work with certain types of calcium additives, for example it may read kalk water but not a one part calcium additive,, a little confusing,, put it this way, I have not been able to figure it out. I am going to buy a new kit this weekend...

thanks for the advice on the red sea tests, just went out and got one. worked like a charm!! YEA! I am now thinking that is the place to get info and forget my stupid lfs. They talked me into that other test for $30.00, and the red sea was only $12.00. Dummy me. Does red sea make one for mag? I went to two other stores and could not find one.;)

Newreefers ,Yes I was there today, have the same kit, those kits were developed by a previous owner, a little tricky but works ok for me, I tested today 10 drops which = 460ppm calcium,
my alk is 5, so im in good shape:) Which LFS do you frequent?
I live in Coral Springs

I was using coral seas in WPB, but I am getting pretty frustrated with the bad advice. I have tried a couple others in WPB but no luck finding a good one. Still looking.....
