Texas Hold Em Tournaments

How many of you host this game at your home? What are your buy ins? How many chips you start out with? I have been holding tournaments like this for almost 4 months now. The buy in is only $3 due to some VERY poor friends LOL. 2nd place gets 25% and 1st gets the rest. $3 will get you 500 chips and blinds double every 15 minutes. A good game will last about 1 1/2 hrs. Not bad for spending only $3. Usually there is about 6 players.
BUT this week end I'm hosting a MUCH MUCH bigger one. I'm a little nervous due to I think the buy ins will be $10 and already have like 15 players coming over. Reason I'm scared is that I just announced this yesturday and I have 15 people already saveing seats. NOW my house is VERY small only 762 sq.ft. 2 bd 1 bath. Perfect for 2 people but now adding all the company it's going to be crazzzzzzzy.
It's amazing on how fast this game has grown and a great way to meet new people. If you play at Party Poker.com my name is CRAZYINSALEM. keep an eye out for me and say something if you run across me. I'll let you know how it all turns out.

I play with a couple friends (5-6) Our buy ins is $20. You can buy in as many times as you want. One time I lost my $20 VERY quick and bought in again and ended up making $50 so you never know. Most the time the winner ends up winning about $90 or so. It lasts about 2-2 1/2 hrs. $20 bux aint bad for 2-3 hrs of fun and kickin it with the guys.
You gotta lose some to win some in poker. Bluff often to keep them guessing but bluff too much and you end up broke all the time. lol.
Last week I won around $35.

why is texas hold em so popular all the sudden? I never remember hearing about it before but now every store has tons of sets and tables for it.

If blinds never change then the game last to long and there is no excitement of the game. Our goal is to see who gets the 1st big blind. We start out small blind is $5 (chip money) and big blind is $10. Towards the end of the game small blind is at $160 and big at $320. 1 time it lasted 1 hand it went sm $320 big 720. So it pushes you to bet instead of folding all the time.
Texas Hold Em is so popular right now due to the WPT ( world Poker Tour). People didn't relize that a small buy in fee could win you thousands. At Party Poker.com there was a guy (I think he was 22 yrs and bought into a tournament for $6 and ended up on the WPT and walked out with over $140,000. Not bad for a small buy in.
My goal is that next year I will feel more commfortable with the game and try it at the casinos. I heard that the one closest to us has a tournament every once in a while that but ins are %50 and winner can walk out with 10k depending on how many show up.

If your blinds never change hen how long does your game last? How much money worth in chips? We start outwith $500 and thats maybe 50 chips per person. We use those timers that dings after a bit but we also place it so we cannt see it when it's about to go off. I have played where the blinds never change but some of my friends will just fold and not really care about the game. They liked to drag it along.
Before each tournament I decide on who I'm going to pick on and get them upset and then they play stupid. Out of 6 guys there is usually 3 others that try to do the same. It gets fun if we all pick on one guy and he knows what we are doing and he gets to cocky. J8st funny to watch. Once in awhile ill just sit back and not say 1 word for the hole game and that makes people worrie about what I'm doing. I like just playing mind game with the other players.

I just hosted a tournament at my house, 27 people, $50 buy in for each person. Started with $100 in chips, blinds started at 1-2, and increased each half hour. Lasted about 4.5 hours.
I also play alot of 3-6 games at local VFW halls.

We play every Friday night. $10.00 buy in, usually we have 10 people. Everyone gets 50 chips. We use small and big blinds. Once an individual drops out the blinds double, this allows for more games to be played. We usually play 4 games.
The best item we invested in is the automatic card shuffler!!!!!
