You play for real money on partypoker.com? I play with play money BUT trying to get my wife to ok with real money and try some of those $5-$20 tables. Whats the usual buy in on eagles table? I'd like to know alittle more about what where and when you do these tournys. I have 1 at the house now every Friday nights starts at 7pm and we play 3 games. $3 buy ins just cause some of my friends wanna play but don't have alot of money. This week I'll be doing 2 different tables with a total of 11 players. 3rd place gets there money back 2nd place gets 25% of whats left then 1st gets the rest.

Wondering if any of you that have had these tournaments have had any trouble with the law showing up.
Right now in the state of Minnesota, you are not allowed to have any of these tournaments. The State Senate is trying to come up with a bill that will allow us to have these, but right now we can't.
The reason I say this is this.....the other night we were at a pretty large tournament at a friends house (around 45 people). About 4 hours into the law decides to show up, they said they heard rumors from the street....plus the 40+ cars on the road tipped them off I think. I do have to say they were quite nice.....they only took the $3000.00 worth of poker chips we had....they did allow us to keep the money that we had, and did not issue any tickets. Just a HUGE warning.
I was quite sceptic about this....so the next day I called the State of Minnesota gambling board and talked to a very nice lady and she affrimed me the rules. Texas Hold-Em is a Non-Legal card game. The game can not be played for any cash value, even if the house makes nothing. This game will not be allowed in any Private or Public area. She did also tell me that the first offense can be charged a $500 fine along with 30 days in jail.
Just a little note....I love to play the game...Check with your local State boards.

How did the law know you were playing for money. It could have been a friendly game for bragging rights?
$3000 of chips sounds kinda steep, Usually you can find 500 11.5 pure clay, not composite for $125.
From my understanding in Ohio it is okay as long as no profit. I have seen it on the news and I have read some legal docs on this.
Good luck

Ya I know you can get 500 for 125.00...however when you have tournaments that had anywhere from 40 to 85 people you need to have lots of chips.
We will be getting out chips back...just have to make a appearance at the court house to claim them back.

The Eagle tables we usually make free. The few tournaments we got on together we do the $5 tournaments. I know some of us do the high stakes tables but not sure if anyone goes together. I know I dont go:) lol
Anyway, its free with the "eagle" code plus when you first start on your deposit you get 20% bonus and seven free tournaments including the $5000 freeroll tournament. But if you already have an account you wouldnt be under the "eagle" bonus--sorry:)

My friends and I play with a $5 or $10 buy-ins. Blinds go up every twenty minutes, occasionally we play antes with people who never bet. Fifty or one hundred chips to a person, respectably. Buy-back whenever, and always beat the cheater.

No you dont have to play for real money to join us: ) If you use real money though they do give you 20% bonus, 7 free-rolls including the $5000 freeroll plus the players club, by using "eagle" when you first sign up. But we just play for fun, It will be 9 eastern most likely, will know by tommorow. A notice generally goes out, we in the eagles nest room usually. If you got a name there, we can easily tell you where we at then with an invite:)
Just for fun, enjoy yourself and we will play some tourneys for free fish stuff too!

The $5000 freeroll is under the special tab. Anyone deposting anything is eligible. The eagle rooms are under hold em, click the sort by tournament table tab, makes it easier to find. To enter, you must be under bonus code "eagle" Sorry for late reply
