Wondering if any of you that have had these tournaments have had any trouble with the law showing up.
Right now in the state of Minnesota, you are not allowed to have any of these tournaments. The State Senate is trying to come up with a bill that will allow us to have these, but right now we can't.
The reason I say this is this.....the other night we were at a pretty large tournament at a friends house (around 45 people). About 4 hours into the law decides to show up, they said they heard rumors from the street....plus the 40+ cars on the road tipped them off I think. I do have to say they were quite nice.....they only took the $3000.00 worth of poker chips we had....they did allow us to keep the money that we had, and did not issue any tickets. Just a HUGE warning.
I was quite sceptic about this....so the next day I called the State of Minnesota gambling board and talked to a very nice lady and she affrimed me the rules. Texas Hold-Em is a Non-Legal card game. The game can not be played for any cash value, even if the house makes nothing. This game will not be allowed in any Private or Public area. She did also tell me that the first offense can be charged a $500 fine along with 30 days in jail.
Just a little note....I love to play the game...Check with your local State boards.
