Justin, thanks for steering me to the DIY CHILLERS
posts,it was a smorgasboard of information and will save me big bucks.
I'm a happy man and my livestock will be even happier when their introduced to the tank.
Thanks again......Saltwaterfish.com rocks
No problem, you are a very brave man. I think it is a great idea, I am just not savy enough to do it myself, especially something so complex, but if you are good with that stuff,,, good luck.. Justin
I been toying with the Idea of running a tube through a styro fish box or cooler. And trading out those chemical ice packs everyday. One set in the freezer and the other in the cooler. By the way the tank I'm trying to chill is only 28 gallons. LOL

No way to get the heat transfer you need by running a pipe through a cold cooler. I design air conditioning systems for commercial buildings. You would need to cascade the water over the cold packs to get surface contact. Would work even better if you had a fan blowing air across the water. This would cool it down even more. It is similar to a cooling tower on a building. The Tower cascades water over media, similiar to a Wet/Dry While sucking air up through the water. This causes cooling as the water evaporates.
Good Luck
