When I asked you about stars about a week ago or so you advised that a linckia, orange, red, multiflora or the more difficult blue would suffice.
Well I printed off pics of each and got the opinions of the family members. And of course they picked the blue one, so I figured I'd give it a shot.
I drip acclimated him for 2.5 hours and put him in my tank on thursday night.
Well it's been one week and he made it through the transition so I want to show him to you!!
This is the best shot I can get, he's always hiding in the rocks!!

One quick question...
Right under him is my heater, after this post I went out to look at him and he was virtually on top of the heater and it was kicked on. Will he get so close it can be fatal or does he have enough sence to only get as close as he can tolerate??
I hope these aren't the last pics I'll ever get. I turned off the heater, but I need to know for future reference.:)

No, it is reef safe, but requires a large mature reef tank. I will admit the blue is a touch marginal in this situation (well, let's be honest, in nearly all situations), IMO...not as large a system as I would personally like. But at least mature and healthy with a lot of LR. Time (a year) will tell :) Looks good!

I am counting down the days...
Are there any signs I should look out for that it's not doing so well?? Signs that I will see BEFORE it's dead? I hope it turns out well. Well, now this is the perfect excuse to get a BIGGER tank!!

Whitish patches...especially at the arm tips, or kind of just looking "deflated."
Keep us posted! :D

Minimum, IMO, is a 6 month old (again minimum!) 100g with at least 100lbs of LR. Really I don't think that is not enough LR. I like a packed mature reef tank...the longer, the better (more LR area). But these sorts of tanks are FAR better than most they get put into (55 -75g range :( )
However, I am growing EVER MORE FONDER of Linckia multiflora, which I think would not only do well in these size tanks, it would reproduce.

cool. thanks. i have always wanted on, but was never sure on the requirments of them. I am just now settin gup my 110. So if 1 year from now and all is good, i will think about getting one.
