Great news (for me), I was talking to the wife about re-setting my 75g so i could move my purple montipora caprinornis away from the bubble tip anemone (its on a huge rock so an entire tank reset is needed to actually move it) who is growing large and obviously doing damage to everything it can reach. and she said "why dont you just buy a pane of glass with this weeks check and set up the 125."
YOU NEED TO BE EXCITED ABOUT THIS< JUST BECAUSE I AM!!!or not....
Sooooooo. I am going to dig out the 125g and remove the broken bottom pane and measure and go down friday and order my glass. I am so excited.
I will start posting pictures as soon as I have some physical progress. I guess I will just use this as my build thread.
hey when did I hit 10k posts? am I really on here that much?

I should be able to start in on getting the tank out and cutting away all the old silicone and removing the broken pane this afternoon.
the worst part is its cold here now so I am going to have to do the reseal either in my house, or heat my garage untill the silicone dries. but I dont have a heater to heat the whole garage. I may have to build a box thats larger than the tank and heat just the box to keep the silicone from freezing untill it cures.
my wife is just way too good to me. I have been wanting to do this for a while but I havent wanted to spend that amount of money on something that frivolous. I am going to have to re-brace my floors in my living room, my house is pretty old.

some one want to come over and help me lift the 125 and flip it over so I can remove the bottome pane? I just realized there is no way for me to do this solo without risking a serious mishap. there isnt enough room in my work shop for me to do this without assistance. I need to find some help.

wo hoo update, progress
ok got it up onto the work table.
duct taped over the broken areas to protect myself somewhat from cuts while trying to remove the plastic band from the bottom rim. fortuantly for me this is a 4 part band instead of a solid band. so I can take it off in sections.
my primary tool for removing the bands is a slightly modified 5 in one painters tool. the modification was simple I took a grinder and sharpened the angle rounded the tip a littile and sharpened the long flat so I can cut silicone easier. the chisel is only for helping lift the band out (like a wedge) to drive the cutting tool in deeper and use a little stress to make the silicone seperate. the hammer is for tapping the 5 in one tool once I have it wedged into the silicone. sheer arm strength just causes the tank to slide, so littel taps are required to push the cutting tool through the silicone.
I removed the first end band you can see fom the picture the bottom is broke all to hell. I am going to have to be really carefull not to crack any of the side panes by prying too hard. this is a real challenge,.

I think one of the most exciting things about setting this tank up is the fact that I will have room to frag again.

and its going to open up a larger sand bed for my brain coral collection.

I was doing some figureing on what I need, and what I have to set this tank up while I was at work today. ran through a check list of sorts to see what else I may need. its actually pretty scary how much I already have to set this tank up.
glass pane for bottom of tank (about $176.00 for tempered)
Silicone (need 5 tubes $3 bucks each),
eggcrate (have some probably enough),
pvc pipe/elbows for shelving in sump (Have some maybe enough),
acrylic for baffels and turf filter tray (have all I need),
additional return pump/s for increased return rate (have more than enough)
2 hob overflows (have 3 all set there)
lighting (have 3x250w metal halide and 8x110 vho with 2 icecap 660ballast, more than I'll need, I'll probably run 3x250 w halide and 2 or 4, 6 foot vho bulbs)
sand (need about 50 to 100lbs LBS, need to do math on this)
Rock (should have enough)
Skimmers (have coralife 125 and 2 berlin 220s)
sump lighting ??? not sure yet, but have 4x96w PC
water movement in tank, (have more powerheads than I can shake a stick at)

can anyone think of something I may have left off my check list? feel free to throw some ideas or possible considerations out there. could help kick over the sludge in my mind and come up with something I may have overklooked.
