The Beggings of my Sea Horse Tank

Okay...here it goes.......My daughter is so excited about getting seahorses! I put the brine shrimp tank together last night. I still have to quite a bit of fiddling to do with the 45 gallon, such as relandscaping, and adding gorgonians, but all in good time. I'm still wating for the tank to cycle.
I thought I would also throw in a picture of my daughter's fresh water tank. Her mollies are so cute.
I still have to go to target and buy a pack of "Sea Monkeys" too.

The Sea Horse tank is 45 gallons, LS, LR(45 lbs),a bunch of mushrooms, 2 false perc clowns. I will be buying a new light.....not sure what kind. I will also be adding a bunch of different gorgonians. Hopefully I will be able to get most of these gorgonians here.

That is just how I got into the hobby. A seahorse tank for my 9 yr old. That was many many tanks, corals, fish, equipment and paychecks ago.
Have you read up on seahorses? I didn't but wish I did. Generally, brine will not be enough for them. It is very low on nutritional value. Even if vitamin soaked. You will need to supplement with frozen mysis shrimp. MAKE SURE BEFORE YOU BUY THEM THAT YOU SEE them EAT FROZEN FOOD! They are very sociable, buy mpre than one. Seahorses need to eat at a minimum of 2 times a day, every day. Skipping an occasional day is ok (occasionally). There is a boat loads of meds that are needed. They are very susceptable to disease, fungus and bacteria. Gas bubble disease has nailed me twice.
Seahorse dot org is a very good site.
Good Luck, my daughter loves them. SHe just won't feed themvery often and it is left to me.

The tanks look good, Rykna.
I know it doesn't hurt to have meds on hand (for any tank) but the reality is that the meds will only really be useful if the problem is gas bubble disease on the skin of the horse, or for parasites, if you can catch it soon enough. If it is internal GBD, it is usually not treatable.
"rad whats the minimum lighting/size/and environment you have to have for a seahorse?"
It's not a simple question, and if you'd be interested to post a thread, it can be discussed in more detail.

www.seahorse.org It is highly recomended to not keep clowns with seahorses. Also if you go post on that website, a member there breeds his own seahorses. I recommend you buy from him. His board name is DanU. Captive Bred Kudas are the best for beginners. You will be able to feed them mysis so you won't have to worry about brine shrimp and their lack of vitamins.

Not if you have seperate feeding stations. Most info that I have read recomends establishing a feeding station for the horses, and feeding other inhabitants of the tank first, and on opoosite sides.

Do to a leak in my daughter's tank my sea horse tank has moved into my old 90 gallon aquarium. The clown fish are having a ball with the larger housing, and my daughter's mollies are enjoying the rectgular 45 gallon tank-it gives them more room to swim length wise.
Still waiting for more pods to show up before I add anything else
