im setting up my 55 gallon refugium, and i need to know what pump i should use for return and input, i have a 125 as display and they are about 1 1/2 feet apart(i think) and should i have the output from the display on the opposit side from the return?

Fish,
I guess that depends a bit, are you using one pump for the fuge and sump, or is it just a fuge pump? I would say put the return on the other side of the tank for circulation, and I think most people say you want to turn the fuge over about 6 times an hour. So 330 GPH or better, maybe a Mag 5 which is rated at 500 GPH.

actually you want a slow flow through the fuge so as to help reduce trates and po4, i only have about a 100gal or so going thru my 37 gal fuge which spills into the sump side with a mag 12 sending the water up to display which is a 180.
as far as pumps go mag drives are excellent and alot of people recommend them. i do.

I used a Mag 7 on my 55 gal with an overflow box I got used-I'm not sure who makes it or what it's rated for, but the MAG 7 worked fine on it. I'm now using it on my 75 gallon with great results. What ever you do DON'T buy a Rio. I had a 2100 that lasted a week then died.

Purchase anything EXCEPT a RIO-Junk, garbage, cheap, loud, fails on restarts, undependable, worthless-and I am being nice!!!!
