What is the best protein skimmer I should use for my 72 bow reef tank? I want a hang off the back one. What kind of price range should it be in?

Well, it's not the best skimmer out there, but it is the most economical one. It doesn't use very much electricity, works well, and does not cost as much as most. The SeaClone 100 can have adjustments made to it that make it a very efficient skimmer, and I did these adjustments, and it works great now. The website for these adjustments is <a href="http://www.reefcentral.com/diy/seaclone_modifications.htm" target="_blank">SeaClone Modifications</a>. I use it in my sump for my 75, and it can be used as an in-sump or hang-on skimmer. I think that the price range is around $100, but I'm not that sure. HTH

Thanks for the info. What turbo skimmer are they talking about? And what should i expect to pay for one of them, a hang on one?

Red Sea Berlin Turbo hang-on would be great on that size tank. Around $200.00 - $230.00 is what they go for I think.
I would say ETSS but they don't make a hang-on anymore. Life Reef makes a great hang-on but much more expensive than the Berlin.

If I'm not mistaken, some the Sea Clone Mods from the website are not applicable to newer series of Sea Clone. As for mine, it has a MaxiJet 1200, not 1000. The inlet tubing has been modified, but I'm not sure of inner tube heights. As for sealing the collection cup, mine has an o-ring at the base where collection cup sits in place, which I apply a very thin amount of Vaseline to help with removal & installation for emptying cup. It can be too snub when dry. I do agree with air to some point with air adjustment control, although its now operating perfectly. That I think depends on whether you can make skimmer adjustments perfect or not.

What do you guys think of the Cyclone Bak Pak 2R (Reef Ready)Protein Skimmer? This is what the LFS is trying to sell me? I also seen a Aqua C Protein Skimmer, what do think of that one? How much is a good price for these 2 skimmers? Thanks for the other info!!!
