There are many different things in the senthitic saltwater if your skin reacts to it then by all means wear some gloves ESPECIALLY if you have cuts and scratches on your skin. some things are toxic that we keep one is zoas if they have released the toxin in the water for some reason and you put you cut scratched arm in there you could be asking for trouble.
always be cautious when working in a SW tank if it irratates your skin wear gloves dont risk it.

I think this is a good point, it is synthetic salt water. They mix all kinds of stuff to make aquarium salt. Not all of it plays nice.
