30-40 cents a gallon around here.
It won't solve all algae problems but it's one of the best steps you can take.

That's at Walmart. Look into buying a RO/DI unit. With a 125 you'll need a lot for evaporation and water changes.

For a tank that big I'd say get an RO/DI unit as well, however if you don't want to go that route you can get a bunch of 5 gallon jugs you can get the water at wal-mart for 30 cents a gallon in the "fill-er-up yerself" RO machine. I use a local grocery store because it's closer, but it's the same price and concept - though I did have to make several trips to fill up my tank, and it's only 55 gallon.

I echo essop and monk, seriously consider an in-home RO/DI filter system.
While $38 may seem cheap for 125g, it eventually adds up due to evaporation replacement, water changes, maintaining a QT if you're so inclined, cost in time and money in actually going and getting the water. With good units costing less than $200, I'd speculate that in less than a year an in-home system would pay for itself.

I get my water from Walmart .33 per gallon I use about 15-20 gallons per week for top off. Tank 135 Sump 45, so about 5-6 dollars per week.

No I don't think so buying all the filters, etc and all the water waste which I here is plenty water waste, and having to fool with it all so for I prefer to buy it for now.
Thanks,

Thanks,
All valid points, especially if you're on metered water, and if it works for you, great. Luckily, we're on flat-rate so we don't have to pay for the extra water use due to our RO/DI.
I've had our tank up for around 9 months and went with an in-house unit from the beginning, really find the benefits of always having water is tremendous.

I checked and SWF.com does not sell this so I figured that it was ok to post it, there is a hook to the sink unit on airwaterice.com good luck

you can get a ro/di for cheap and filters arent that much money and you dont have to replace them until around 1000g or 6 months, or until your tds gets high. your going to want one eventually and it will pay its self off. and since i got one, i do more water changes and keep the tanks water cleaner.

What waste there is no waste water only wasted minds I plan to use waste water for plants, yard, washing tools, muddy shoes and many other things. not to mention get a unit with a di bypass and you can cut out the money you spend on drinking water too. 2 birds ummm 1 stone oh yeah kill 2 birds with 1 stone
but to each his own

I pay $5 a month for all the RO water I can carry out. The place doesn't care if I bring in 5g buckets. Pretty sweet deal until I get my RO unit for xmas. It's #1 on my list.

My tank is 30g so I buy water from the local supermarket at .50 per gallon. I found that all RO water is not the same. The LSF sells RO for .30 per gallon so I bought 10 gallons. Within 24 hours after using it I had a huge algae outbreak that took 2 water changes to get rid of plus an extra $10 in water. Should have known better too, the LFS was always dealing with algae issue.
