Just when I thought the storm was over............... :scared:
I was having coffee new years eve, chatting with my hubby, enjoying the tanks as usual...when I noticed a small puddle creeping out from under my daughter's 45 corner tank..AGAIN . here we go again.....I spent over 8 hours yesterday with my hand in fish tanks. I took down 3 tanks. First I brought in my 90 gallon, drained water from 45 salt tank into 90, transfered rocks, corals, and 2 inches of sand from the 45 to the 90. Then I cleaned out the 45 gallon and switch it back fresh water for my daughters fish. Drained the leaking 45 corner tank and tranfered plants, rocks, and fish. After all that was done I mixed salt water for at least another hour to completely fill the 90 gallon salt. Re installed my ehiem canister......spilled at least 5 or so gallons on the living room floor...... isn't this a greeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaat hobby!!! ,
by then it was 8 pm and Aria had gone to bed. I spent the next 2 hours cleaning up, mopping up, and rechecking plugs filters and and such. Almost electricuted myself when one of the hood lights took a swim in the tank buzzzzzzzzzz :scared:
After all of that here is the new set up.........
My seahorse tank is now in my old 90 gallon.....and Aria's fresh water tank is in the rectangle 45 gallon tank. I still have to re-landscape each tank, but every one is settling down.
There were only 2 fatalities~2 of Aria's neon tetras. One of them got slooshed out of the tank when I was lowering the tank to the floor to finish scraping out the rocks. Over a gallon of water splashed over and into the couch. Poor little guy.....I found him a few minutes latter after digging through couch. The second one I think from stress...
A more eciting point of the move was that Aria is now old enough that I started teaching her about all water changes and such. I taught her how to gently scoop out fish in the net, hold them gently so they don't jump out, and then gently release them so their fins don't get torn. She is a natural!!!! I caught the fat, slow mother molly as a demonstration, and she caught the rest!!!!!! Even the speedy little neons tetras!!!!!!
