you dont really hear much more about any rememberance of that day too much anymore. i just had a disussion with one of my associates about the rememberance of 9/11 recently and pearl harbor came up. him being in his 70s said that after it happened, it was still remembered every year after just as much as 9/11 is now. as unfortunate as it sounds, i guess these things just get phased out after a certain period of time. im not saying that this is right, but it just seems like that is the way it is.

My Grandfather was there too. Suffice to say I always remember it. He only talked about it once and that was to me.

When I was 11 I had to write an essay on it. I think it was kind of forggotten after 9/11

Most everyone I know has heard of it. We watched a movie about it last year. And the year before that. And the year before that.

I think Pearl Harbor day is more known than one thinks. It is a day like 9/11 to remind us that we should not take anything for granted. My grandfather was also stationed at Pearl Harbor, but was not injured in the attack.

my grandfather was also sationed there... he floated in the ocean for over 24 hours before he was rescued...
my grand father was also very active in the PHSA and also lobbied every state to recognize Pearl Harbor Survivors by getting a special license plate... he passed before all 50 states acknowledged, but my grandmother, mother and uncle carried this on and now there is a PHSA license plate display at the memorial...
lest we forget...

Bruce, you mean to tell me that you don't put the Festivus pole in your living room every year and embarass yourself and family members in the name of the revolutionary holiday?

While Pearl Harbor should be a special day...we do have a chance to recognize ALL those that have served our military on Veterans Day. Too bad some folks in this country like that goofy religious group seeks to disgarce those and their family that have sacrificed so they have the right to do what they do.
ALL miltary personnel returning from battle and/or just serving during "peace" time should be given a heroes welcome...and a 100% support message from the leaders of this country.
Whack-O head jobs should be given a one way pass port to N Korea......so they can see how the other side lives.

seems that it has taken a back seat to 9/11 in the last 5 years now, but i would be surprised if anyone 12 and up didnt know it. if they dont, are education systems are worse than i thought.
