Few more.
Palythoa (colonial polyp - soft coral) - "pah-lee-tho-ah"
Caulerpa (macro algae) - "Call-er-pah"

The correct pronunciation of zooplankton is (zoh-oh-plank-ton).
But people rarely pronounce it that way. And seriously...nobody liked my joke?

A lot depends on what part of the country you are from. lol! I live in Louisiana, so some of what I hear is southern.

Chaetomorpha (chaeto - a common macro algae) = "Kay-tow" .
please stop calling it "cheee-toe"
I personally don't believe that to be the correct pronounciation... well not according to Latin guidelines that all our words form around.
I say Key-toe-more-fah.

I say key-toe too. I'm glad Latin is dead.

Great thread - I'll be watching and learning from this one! But could you put accent marks over the part that gets the emphasis or, like some people did, capitalize that section? A lot of the mix up comes from which part to emphasize, for example, what is the proper pronunciation of the seahorse "Reidi"?

I was just kidding. It's like saying that I'm glad I'm not on the basketball team because I suck at it.
LOL... no, I meant I'm glad my husband knows it because I suck at it.
