I just happened to look a few days back for my Lawnmower Blenny. And I thought it was strange that I coldnt find him hiding somewhere in the tank. Then I look behind my tank and there he was laying on the floor, dead and completely dried up.
So then yesterday I happen to be walking by and admiring my tank and then it hits me....Where the hell is my $35 Longnose Hawkfish? I look behind the tank quickly. THERE HE IS.
So there I am screaming about loosing two jumpers in the past 2 days and I grab my net pick up off the carpet and proceed to lay him back in the tank to see if he isnt dead. I wait 2 miuntes or so and no sign. So I take him over to the toilet, chuck him in, and out of the corner of my eye I saw him gasp a little bit. To my delight, he is alive. He must have jumped out of the tank literally 2 minutes before I looked. Now, today, he is back swimming around like he was in the past. Luckiest fish of the day
Question: Since most people say to not use lids on your tank because of a gas exchange issue and heat problems, does anyone use anything different, llike say some screen to keep their fish from jumping out.
Does anyone know why fish jump out?
