The more the better?

Is it true that the more sand you put in the more nitrates get coverted to nitrogen? If you put like a foot of sand in the fuge, would you still have to do monthly/weekly water changes? (i know nitrate isn't the only reason you do water changes)

There is a huge debate going on right now on how good deep sand beds really are. Your best bet is to do a 25% water change each month regardless of your system.
