this was the fastest cycle ive ever seen. first i filled the tank with real ocean water that i bought from a store then i filled it with the livesand and liverock and a shrimp. i did a water change every 3rd day and after a week i add the wrasse. he was fine. levels were fine. then i added the coral now i hav more coraline algea then before and every day the xenia and the frogspawn show major signs of growth. ive never had this much succes with a tank not to mention a nano. i just do regular water changes and it is fine.
also an important factor is that i went to many places and did some research to make sure i got the best quality live rock and sand because they are what manage your parameters.
the second down is two branches of frogspawn.

Bigblurr, let me ask you being that I am new...how would someone know they are getting good quality rock and sand? The store I go to is Aquarium adventure here in ny and it is beautiful. I even saw a big curing tank in the back. They are extremely pricey with their rock and I am not sure if that means better or that they can just charge more since it is one of the biggest stores out here. Can I just purchase online? Not sure what to do.
Thanks much for the help!

its hard to determine the quality of live rock but your best bet is to just look to see what rock has the most life on it. more life = more filtration ive never bought rock offline. id be carefull of the big lfs i always bought it from one of those and it was crappy rock. i went to a small lfs that was run down and not a pretty place but they had cheap live rock and it had more life on it then i have ever gotten on any other rock.
im not sure the demensions of my tank but its a 7 gallon minibow made by allglass aquarium i believe. it looks really good and it looks bigger then it is beacuse of the bow. love this tank.
going to the fish store tomarrow who knows what ill come home with

Gawwwgeous!! Absolutely stunning. Your water is CRYSTAL

My tank is a 12 and it took 2 whole weeks to cycle! You are quite fortunate... but I guess u already know that :joy:
Tell me something... don't six-lines get to be kinda big? Are you going to move him to another tank when he outgrows the 7? ...I'm sure you've got plans for him already, just wanted to pick your brain

most people said that hed be ok in there but if he does get too big then ill bring him back to the lfs. i just got him a new tank mate today. i was out and kinda near the fish store and i said why not. i went in and was planning on geting some coral maybe a bubble or a hammer coral then to my surprise they didnt have much corals in stock. so i started to look over the small fish and instantly fell in love. i found him fighting the good fight in a small tank on the top shelf. i could tell instantly that he wasnt like the rest of the fish of his kind in that store. he was a clown. Not just any clown he was a percula. just a lil guy swimmin around looking happy as can be. i could tell that he wasnt your normal percula clown either. he had a much healthier and brighter orange color and bigger black lines around his white. i knew it instantly that he was a true percula. i glanced down at the tank full of false perculas and it was aparent that he deffinetly wasnt one of them. he had im from the big blue ocean writen all over him. i looked on the glass and there he was listed as true percula 34.99 i ran over to the counter and said bag him up. everyone was shocked at how bright he was i felt like a proud father after my son/daugter won the elemantary science fair as i walked around the store with my friend in the bag. now he is happy as can be in his new home with his newly found friend the six lined wrasse. now i know what your all thinking that might be a fish overload. but its not there both about an inch long so they are fine untill the wrasse gets bigger i might have to get rid of him but my new clown has found his new home for as long as possible.

ohh yea the tank measurements its 13 inches high with out the plastic base and its 16 inches with the base. its about 11 inches at the deepest part of the bow across and its a good 16 inches across the top. hope the measurements help its a great little salt water tank. you can get lights for one for about 80 bucks and its practically made for this tank and its 32 watt pc lights with a bulb. it wil;l support just about any coral you throw at it.

the boxed "real ocean water" if you can afford it is a god gift, i used it forever with water changes, and its incredible, the levels always stable, and the cleanliness of the tank never faultered, amazing stuff, but at 9 or 10 bucks for 5 gallons is pricey when you have a 75 gallon tank.......
