Everybody add one thing to the list, and hopefully new people will avoid mistakes that the rest of us have made. Put what it is and why not to buy it. I'll start
Harlequin Sweetlips-Beautiful. Get very big and have a hard time eating non-living foods.
Mandarin Dragonette-need copious amounts of live foods, can be kept in large tanks successfully though with large amounts of well established live rock
Linkia Starfish-most, if not all slowly starve of no food

well i have a question, i hope no one cares that i ask one, buy why in the world are coral banded shrimp hard to keep healthy? i had one and it was as healthy and happy as could be, i know you are NOT suppose to put 2 together in the same tank unless they are mated but what makes them so hard to keep healthy, and i have anther question, why is the purple nudibranch so hard to keep, i bought one after i told they were great for beginners and hardy and it died after 2 days, why are they so hard to keep?:notsure:

Coral banded shrimp- i envy he/she who maintains a healthy one

You can probably envy lots of people then........I maintained one in my 29g reef (along with other shrimp) for over 18 months. I traded him in when I switched over to my 120g.

Chocolate Chips may not be Reef Safe but, they are excellent Starfish......great for Starfish Friendly Fish Only tanks.

yellow headed jawfish or firefish... especially if your tank has no top. You will find them on the carpet...

I have a Yellow Headed Jawfish who has been in my 120 from the beginning almost a year ago.........hangs out in his cave all day until feeding time. Kept 3 Firefish Gobies in my 29g with no problems at all.......had a canopy but, there were plenty of holes for escape. These fish jump out if something is threatening them.
