I hear ya......I already have fish in the tank, the tank has cylced, what I was concerend about was the small almost non exisiting poulation of pods in the sand bed. The gal with the horse tank, suggested to wait at least a month more for the pod population to increase...being that the tank was given to me with a dead sand bed....I know that a tank is healthier with a pod poplulation....and I don't want to rush things. I know seahorse are very dealicate sensative animals......the current water quality is not quite right yet....I am still getting small nitrate and nitrite spikes...and I am still fiddling with the PH.....
It took almost 10 months with the 1st reef tank i started to, come to a point were the balance of the system was just right(animals, LR, LS, and clean up crews-such as pods, crabs, etc.), At this time the maintenace of the tank was equal to my daughter's freshwater, I cleaned, water changed and so forth only once a month...
Anyway......I know I still have plenty to learn about seahorses, and I greatly apreciate all your input and patience.
I'm guessing in a year I'll probably look back at my experiences with horses...and wonder what in the world was I thinking?????
Reguarding the anemones.....they have both settled in and are eating fine, however,
and the little fire goby is beautiful and has finally made peace with the 2 percs; as with anything added to a salt tank, I give each new occupant 2 months before I consider them a permanent member of the tank.
I do have to redo my hospital tank, however, it to sprung a leak(not bad..but
when will it stoooop, I am starting to think that I was a fish in my previous life(jk) do to the fact that I love to have water on my floors by the gallons!!!)
So I'd like to put that back together....and then I will have the option to put the rock and hiation anemone in there.
I would like to know more about the seahorses delicate structure, such as the skin. So far all that I have read and researched, only includes the basics...food, tank set up, and suggested tank mates.
Thanks all
I look forward to hearing more.
