the pest

We took the advice of our LFS and used kalk paste in a syringe, it worked on the smaller ones, but we had 3 big ones. They disappeared for a few days, but then came back with some discoloration from the burning. The offset was that our calcium of course went up high and we are still trying to get it back down. The kalk paste imo would be an option after others were tried. (we also tried pep shrimp and have never seen any of the 5 we put into the tank and no apstasia was eaten).

If you can get the rock out of the tank, and the aptasia is on an isolated side of the rock, boil water and pour it over the rock. I had a big one that was a present from the LFS, but after a pint or two of boil water he is no more.

joes juice worked well on both my aptasia and mojano. I just used the syringe and squirted it directly on them, didn't even have to take the rocks out of the tank. if you go that route, make sure your tank is large if you need to kill alot of them, otherwise, I would go with boiling water.

I also used Joe's Juice for the few aiptasia I had in my tank. It works great! It comes with a syringe and a tip on it for more accurate dosing on the aiptasia, and not surrounding corals.

I have tried the peppermint shrimp, and woke up the next morning only to find my blue legged hermits holding bits and pieces of him. They were right up on the front of the glass eating what was left of him, as if to say "Thanks for the $10 dinner!", "Sweet necture of gods!".

So now I am left with a rock with aiptasia and fat hermits! I am going to try the red hot screwdriver method. Just heat up the end of a small screwdriver and shove it in there home, wiggling it until they are no more! Then just rinse it with saltwater.

I had LOADS of them on my LR that I purchased from my LFS. I think they do that on purpose so you have to go back and buy Joe's Juice or a shrimp from them to get rid of them
I have used both the Joe's Juice and Peppermint Shrimp to control them, and both worked well. I think the shrimp do a better job than the juice just because they are continuous, not just a spot treatment.
The shrimp wouldn't eat the huge one, but the juice works great. :hilarious
Hope this helps : )
