this is our toad fish. He doesnt like to be out in view!! Also we went to the beach today and found a starfish at the shore line. Thought he was dead but sure enough he was moving. We had 2 of these same kind for a while that our friend found. This one is alot bigger, about 7 1/2in from leg to leg. We also plucked about 40 snails from the jeti's. They look like turbo snails but I dont know. What do you think. Right now we have the star in out 30g fuge to keep an eye on him. Any idea what kind of star he is?? I think he's some type of sifter b/c he burrows like one!

these are the snails

star: beige with purple

Sounds like your LFS has a real problem identifying fish huh?? Yeah we just got the yellow head two days ago. The wolf eels both dies. One jumped ship made it about 4 feet and then kicked the bucket. The other one just froze up one day and died. The toad fish is a kind of angler but certainly not the one you have!

i don't believe though that she normally visits the aggressive area though, you may want to post in the reef or new hobbyist forums asking for her to id the star fish.

WOW thats crazy didnt know a starfish could be that carniverous and violent! Also his limbs seem to be partially breaking down. He is moving around fine but what do u think we should do? and should we try to feed him at all. He cannot get food from the fuge so should we put some in there?

YOu can try, but the long term success may not be good. It has had a rough time. Quite possibly it was dying or stressed at the beach. Many of these animals can not adapt to synthetic salt mixes either.

Oh I never thought of it that way "synthetic salt mix" wow sounds so negative doesntit.
BTW I was using my husbands id (wolfeel) I finally got the activation email for my own tonight.
thanks for all the info. The star seems to be doing the same no better no worse, but i just wouldnt feel right "throwing him away" if he's alive. How long of him being dead would start to polute the tank if hes in the sump??
