There's a middle ground. To suggest that tolerance is the downfall of a nation and that diversity must be oppressed is not only outrageous but its immoral.
Regarding illegal aliens then, of course, we need to do our best to address that. You will never stop them all but you do the best you can.
I agree with you about sending my hard earned tax dollars to countries that hate us. How much of my hard earned money has been devoted to "liberating" Iraq, (which bore no threat whatsoever to the US)? I agree that it's outrageous to do such a thing but I'm confused... aren't you a pretty outspoken proponent of the war?
Since you agreed wholeheartedly with this guy, then of course you have no interest in social tolerance among races, nationalities, religion. Diversity is a horrible thing, huh? Do me a favor... don't procreate.

You really shouldn't make blind allegations. It makes you look stupid. And we all know how smart you really are.

What are you referring to as a blind allegation?

Aaaah... it was the procreating comment. That wasn't a blind allegation, just wishful thinking.
As far as the rest, your friend rests on the concepts of eliminating diversity and intolerance. Your initial post indicated that this was the first thing you've heard in a long time that "makes sense" to you. I can only assume that you agree with him based on those words.

I depends on how you interpreted what the man was saying.Apparently we differ there.

I took from it the same thing that crimzy did. Certainly illegal immigration should be controlled more and people should learn how to speak English if they live here, no argument there, but what is wrong with diversity of culture?
Why can people not call themselves African American, Chinese American etc. if they want to?

This is The United States of America ,people are allowed to call themselves anything they like. But as i see it if you where born here or legally immigrated here then you are American.Has anyone ever been to another country and met a African /Mexican or a French /German........? How can we be united in this country if we are all something else first besides Americans. Its a separation of who we are.Hell I dont think this country has an identity anymore.
I dont find anything wrong with diversity and culture as long as it dosent go before being an American first.
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

One nation...Indivisable

What does it say on the statue of liberty? Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breath free. Where does it say on Lady Liberty "you are American now"? I do not argue at all that people living and working in America should know English. Not one bit. This is the land of the free! We have no right, at all, to tell others that they must all be the same. Would you tell anyone that they have to drop their surname and use only their new last name? Can a person not have a hyphenated last name? Of course they can. Why can they not keep their heritage but hyphen American after it? You don't think a Jewish-Frenchman would hyphenate it to show where they come from? A Chinese-African wouldn't do the same? That is a shame then. Why are people threatened by this?? Why?

I never said all Should be the same ,or should have to change thier last names. The whole purpose of this thread is that America should come First .Not I am Chinese or Mexican or African or anything else living in a place called America. this thread is about our appointed Government official that have lost touch with the will of the people. As he put it "The silent majority"Our government is pissing away all our tax dollars.Spending everywhere else except where it was meant to be spent ,Right here at home.Charity begins at home. And i believe my home is falling apart because our government has found it more important to take care of the world than to take care of its own first. With our country's economic troubles today.I think our time and investments should be focused here and not abroad in places that could give a crap about us trying to help them.Or spending billions to support illegal aliens that aren't even supposed to be here in the first place. This country was founded on immigrants that where and are proud to be American citizens. Not so for the illegals

Are you kidding me? We are diverse. That is what makes American people grand. We are not all the same and are proud of our culture. This is America. Home of the brave and land of the free. I would not want it to be any other way!! "One land, one culture, one language"??? That is not my America. I would like to see the stats that he is giving on here. 40% of high school graduates read at a fourth grade level? Where is this information coming from? The flood victims from New Orleans were forgotten? Certainly I agree with the stop of illegal immigrants. If they are going to live and work here then they should have documentation. The rest is nonsense IMO
We were the melting pot. We offered opportunity to those from any culture. They just had to become "Americans". They would "melt" into the culture of America. Now we are more like vinegar and oil. We do not mix, no matter how hard we are shaken. "Diversity" has encouraged people to remain separate, and not "melt" into the population. It is the melting pot example that makes us strong, not the diversity example.
