I owe so much to the forum here at SWF.com
It kept me in the hobby and is the main catalyst for my now obsession with the hobby.
But I have to be honest and say that I find myself more and more spending time on other forums simply b/c of the poor performance of SWf.com.
In other words, this site seems so darn slow most of the time, I wind up going "elsewhere". It can take over a minute to process a post or load a page - and its not my connection. I'm on a hi-speed lan at work.
I know its not just me. And being in the business its most likely a $$$ issue around server space and speed.
What's the deal? More and more high quality people are leaving for other reasons. Let's hope we dont lose more b/c of a technical issue!
PS - looking forward to feedback on this one in a few hours/days!

It has alot to do with the number of users hitting it everyday now..
This has to be one of the highest volume forums for saltwater aquariums out there right now.

me too, its fine.
but, I guess you can't change the name of the thread to be smaller? Its making the whole page stretch across the screen

really? you all dont have the problems?
i, too, thought it was traffic and the growing number of people on the site. but that's easily addressed by adding more $$$, basically, to the web servers.
myabe its just me then. but i dont have the problem on any of the web sites i visit during the course of the day. so i just assumed it wa SWF.com.
any feedback from the mods?

Maybe your server busier at lunch? Don't know, I am NOT a computer wizard by any stretch of the imagination, but ours will slow down at certain times of the day.

could be. but i can be on other web pages at the same time and they all work fine.
i'm pretty sure its just an SWF capacity issue.
i do know its a very easy way to quickly lose users on your web site. could be deadly.

also....lan means local area network....you are sharing that connection with at least a dozen other people (im not sure where you work but it might be wayyyyyy more)
If everyone is checking their email or looking at fish message boards and ---- then im sure it migth tend to get laggy.

Had that problem while using Netscape 4.7 But I finally broke down and installed Netscape 7. Works well now. Wish netscape would start providing the standalone browser like they used to. I still don't know what half of the extra stuff with 7 is.

BH, just to back you up I was going to post the same thing. Even to the point that when I tried to type in a reply it would take forever for the letters to show up. Ironically I did not start the thread because it was taking too long to type it. I went with netscape and accessed this site and there were not problems at all. However I must admit today it seems to be fine.

I've never had a problem loading this site. I get on morning,at lunch, and most every night, 6:00p to 10:30p, sometimes at 1:00a when I can't sleep.
