The tanks

First is the 55, it has been going a couple of months and became a rock holder for the 125. Second is the 125 which I put water in today.

SWEET! At first I was like...what's with the live rock tank?
It's going to be awesome. You have some nice coraline growth already. Keep us updated. What are you going to do with the 55? Sump?

Most likely do it as a fish only with a porky puffer and a friend or two. Some to make the living room nice looking. Right now it has a yellow damsel that I bought in 1999 and has been in about 12 different tanks to cycle them. I gave him away in 2000 or 2001 and he has came back to me after all these years. The guy that had him also gave me one of my tank raised false percs that was born in the 125 in 2002. He is in a 14 gallon nano on my desk at work. I will get some pictures of it next week if I can remember.

dude. That is messed up to put that fish through that type of life. Figure out a new way to cycle your tanks.

I love the 125s they are nice and long. Biggest I could go with was a 90g. can't wait to see it all set up.

Fish don't feel pain the same way we do. There brain stem is more prominent than there cerebral cortex...or something I'm no neurosurgeon. Anyway, it isn't nearly as inhumane as people make it out to be. I still discourage doing it and would never do it, but I respect it. It has been a common practice for years. Don't do it, don't encourage doing it, but don't flame people for doing it.

I cycled my 210 with something like 30 of them. feel bad for doing it, but didnt know any better at the time as it was suggested by the store owner where I bought the tank

Yes VHO and one MH over the rock end. I have to dig out the fans and everything else. It used to be open top with pendants, but now I have cats. I had to get a canopy for it to prevent fishing.

I am sorry for abusing the little damsel so bad, but at least I didn't throw him in a mini-bow 2.5 and play finding nemo.
A few minutes out of Columbia in the lower Lugoff area.
Got the salt right finally and took some of the rock from the 55 to get the 125 going. Still have to do the lights and fans tomorrow. Going to do 8 48" VHO and the one 250 MH. If the fish don't go blind the corals will love it. Still have to hunt down a few million other things from the move also. I seem to have lost my wave maker and my power strips, a few power heads, the reef test kit, my big nets, the MH moguls and one MH balast. Not to mention some more stuff. I blame it on the dog, I know none of the cats would have done it, they love the fish tanks. Aside from dreaming about food, the canopy is a nice heat source to hange out on.

They still feel pain. Ammonia has all sorts of effects on a fish as do Nitrites as Im sure you know. To put 1 fish through 12 cycles is just ignorant. Dont get me wrong. Im one of the first people who will throw a $5.00 fish in to make sure my tank is safe for the more expensive fish I have bought. But, That is a big but, That is after I have checked the water over and over daily for a week. Added a CUC and watched them do there thing. I dont drop a 2 inch damsel in a 125 gallon 6 foot tank and say help me cycle. That is just plain dumb and pointless.

It comes down to morals and opinions. There is no way we can or will ever be able to determine just how much pain a fish is put through when this happens. The worst pain a fish can endure will not be nearly as bad as the worst pain we can endure...I'm pretty sure that has been proven. But yes, they do feel pain. I will never cycle with a fish and I will never endorse cycling with a fish. As a matter of fact I used to be a member of a site called fishlesscycling...
Anyhow, when someone needs help starting a tank, I will tell them to not use a damsel. If someone who has been doing this for years is using a damsel for their cycle, I'm not going to
them.

Just for the record he is not in the 125 and will never be. He would be too hard to catch. As far as the 125, it is getting done with rock from the 55 and some shrimp that stayed in the freezer to long.
