The things are killers...

Most people will say "Don't get coral banded shrimp, they're agressive."
I should have listened. One killed my flame angel the day after I put it in my tank... and was working on my tang!
I had fun murdering it for its misdeeds, but I miss the angel. Oh well, now I can check out another pygmy.
I'd have never guessed it capable. Anybody else ever lose a fish that big to a coral banded shrimp?

I have had a coral banded shrimp for years and while he defends his territory, he has never killed any of the fish in my tank, large or small and my shrimp is huge. I agree with JWT, it was probably something else that killed your flame and you should have returned the shrimp to your lfs rather than murdering it.

I got a Coral Banded shrimp one time and after a couple of days I noticed cut fins, and small abrasions on scales. I kept my eye out for the nest couple of days and my shrimp was chasing the fish. He chased damsels, percs, and even a 3" tomato clown. I can't remember if I had my coral beauty yet though.

i also have to agree with JWT that he was probably doing what comes normal in eating an already dead or dying flame. i have has a CBS in my tank for about a year with my damsel and perc and have never had much of a problem other than him teasing them every now and then.

Well on the other hand I have a CBS horror story. I watched a CBS pick on and kill a Lawnmowor Blennie that was like 3 inches long. Its a shame that the LFS guys didn't listen and take those two out of the same tank.
Later!
It was probably because of the close quarters that the CBS ate the Blennie though, so I guess thats an isolatad issue.
Later!

Ummm...
I wasn't really asking if the shrimp killed the fish, I was telling. Trust me, the shrimp killed the fish. I know my fish and I've had the flame for over a year... and there was NOTHING wrong with either him or the reef he was in.
What I WAS asking was if anybody else had lost a fish that big to a coral banded, because I hadn't. But thx for the advice anyways.
The shrimp wasn't scavenging, and yes I'm in the right hobby. I enjoyed killing it every bit as much as he enjoyed stalking my reef... and it only cost $8.00... which is a heck of a lot cheaper than the angel.
