SP-glad I can help and good luck with the SW tank. It's stressful but very rewarding. Spot feeding is for fish or inverts that need to be fed by "hand." Meaning you can actually use your hand with some animals or you can place the food on a toothpick or skewer and place in front of, on top of, or in in the mouth of, whatever needs spot feeding. I think it's to ensure that they are eating because they may not get food otherwise. I have to defer to others who actually do that. I don't have any that I need to spot feed. All the fish I have eat flake or shrimp I put in the tank. Hope that helps.

me-n-my-fish- Thanks! I'm not sure yet but I'm leaning towards the flame angel. Any suggestions? I'd like something with a little flair.

me-n-my-fish-that's good to know since it will be the last fish I add, if that's what we get. I'm very excited.
Jewelfish-Is that you Julie?! :jumping: Too funny!
Glad to see you on the boards. This is the site that helped me get my tank going from the start. It is a wonderful tool. Had an awsome visit with the two little fishies and they are swimming to Las Cruces today.

You are going to Vegas for 4 days? I am officially jealous. I hope you can relax and have funny. Johnny will be fine. It was funny when we were in Laughlin, I was playing some slots and I usually don't do good at the slots. But I was sitting there thinking I would rather take this $20 and buy something for the tank You can imagine how I felt when I got my clocked cleaned at black jack for $50. But some was there money anyway and I ended up getting the $50 and a little more at Pai Gow.
About your flame angel. I think they are beautiful fish and I would love one. In fact I have tried 2 and neither one made it. I know that I need to have one show fish in my tank like that just need to figure out which one.

Scott-I totally understand about thinking where else you could have spent the money. John and I are horrible gamblers, in that we don't want to give our money away, which is what it feels like. Especially when you're losing. We mostely go for the entertainment and excitment. We're meeting one other couple and possibly another couple there. Should be fun. That's sad about the flame angel. Makes me wonder now. I'll let you know. I lost another crab yeterday, red legged. Boy they are mean bugars to eachother. The pistol got all of the spare shells again. He's been working hard since he arrived in the new tank. Pretty amazing little creature. Everyone else is looking good. Oh, I forgot to tell you that we have not seen the emerald crab for weeks. Didn't find him in the move either. Have no idea what happened to him or when it happened.
Shiby-thanks! I REALLY want to stay at the Venican, but we don't want to spend that much so we're looking at the Excaliber or the Luxor. MGM might be nice because the Star Trek ride is there but it's way at the end of the strip and I want to be somewhere in the middle. I know...nothing is free or cheap any more. I remember going to vegas and it being a cheap but really fun vacation. Now it's definitely one to plan for.

Sounds like it is Magnums tank, he is the ruler of the tank. Or at least the troublemaker of the tank.
Well if you want entertainment in Vegas there might be some of that there for you. One place you have to go is the Mirage and see the tank behind the check in counter. As far as gambling Pai gow is a good slow game. It is usually $10 a hand, but I had the same $10 out there for about 5 hands because I kept pushing with the dealer. It also gives you time to chat with the people around you. If the dealer is trying to rush the game make sure to ask you hubby on every hand how you should play the hand, or have him as you.
Not to worry about your emerald crab. Some only come out at night. He could have hid in a cubby in your rock during the move. In fact thinking about it I have not seen my 3 for a couple of weeks now. Although I did see my peppermeint shrimp yesterday for the first time since I move the tank in February. Isn't it great to spend $10 on something and never see it? Well it is all part of keeping your tank healthy.

Yes, I'm starting to think Magnum is the bottom dwelling King. He has burrowed under all of the rocks now and so they have shifted. Funny how empty the tank looks now. Guess I"ll be hunting for more rock, along with my next fish. Do you have any sand snails...assarius? I was thinking of getting some. I will keep the Mirage in mind when we go.
I've never heard of pai gow. Is it like poker? I really like black jack myself but I'm always too intimidated to play.
Good to know about the emerald. I used to see him once a day or so. My peppermint is always out of the rock. I love when I turn out the lights though because he just goes nuts running all over the place. I was surpised when I saw him do that the first time.

I like Black Jack myself but I when you are in a cheap mode it is not a rel good game to be betting $10 a hand every minute. ALthough I usually do OK at it.
Pai Gow is a game where everyone is given 7 cards. Then you break that down into two different hands a 5 card hand and a 2 card hand. Your 5 card hand has to be higher than your 2 card hand. Then you go against the dealer with both your hands against the dealer two hands. You either have to lose both hands or win with both hands, otherwise it is a push. The house considers it a courtesy game so if you win the do take 5%. So if you win they take $.50 out of $10. It is a good way to do some gambling at a slower pace, which is fine at my old age.
