The Ultimate salt mix test!!!!!! Need ur Help!

Ok folks check this out. My step brother works for a large water company, hes one of those guys that go out and take samples from nature back to the lab to analyze...EVERYTHING. I am going up to his lab to have him test my water with pro/lab grade equipment. So I was thinking since I have access to this we could get together and test salt mixes with this equip. He said to do all the test he will need a liter of water from my tank, but while I am there I was thinking those of you who dont use tropic marin salt(Iuse/have it allready) could send me a little baggie of salt mix-(enough for 1 liter) and I could mix it up with RO here to .025 and basically do our own research and post results here, maybe sticky material? Please list main stuff we would want to test for and if you are intrested in sending me a salt sample, I guess I was hoping for a sample of all the major brands we kick around when people start asking us about salt! If any of you would like to participate post here and then ill get you my email/phone number/addy, so you could send me your sample! Anybody intrested?

The only problem with this is that each bucket of salt could be different. It is important to test the levels of every new bucket of salt, in my opinion. Everytime you make up a batch of saltwater with a new bucket of salt, it is essential to test it for pH, alkalinity, magnesium, and calcium, at the very least.
For example, I use Oceanic, and sometimes, I will get a bucket that gives me a 3 dkH and 520 calcium, while other times, it gives me a 7 dkH and 450 calcium. Everyone should be in the habit of testing each bucket of saltmix they use.

yeah but if we could get a couple batches from all over, im sure we could gain some kind of perspective, im tired of opinions or "well ive had luck with this......" lets just find out allready that way when people ask we could ask what they want thier water at and give more accurate info

DITTO, I learned the hard way. After many years of using IO, I had a problem. I may have had a problem before and just thought, "well, fish die sometimes". But I know I got a bad bag.
I think there was a guy who wanted us to do the same thing, send him salt and he'd test everything...I never got an address though.
