:hilarious Politicians are experts at twisting words and taking care of themseves and the other elite. Most politicians really do not care about the lowly infantry man or how the working class Soldier lives. They dont want to be bothered. What qualifies you to represent any portion of the armed forces? any portion? How many people have you cared for? or are you the spokesman for those serving but with no real experience of your own. Why would you make the assumption that I speak for everyone? more political science training.
I would like to hear your opinion after you complete basic training and talk to some of your fellow Sailors, Marines, Airman or Soldiers (which ever branch you are joining). Ask them privately why they joined, then you will hear a large number say that they joined because of the oppritunities the military can offer. Ive never heard any of my Sailors tell me they joined for the pay, some for the benefits (which are slowly vanishing) but most simply because they wanted an oppritunity to have a better life. Normally a combination of these and yes some out of a sense of patriotism.
If or when you end up in the line of fire your classroom based opinons may change to real word ones and you will understand that there are some things that cannot be taught in a classroom and some bonds that only be formed when your life is placed in the hands of another. This comerodery dosent happen in a University and cannot be taught in a classroom or conferred by any college degree. Its not something you read on a message board or in a chat room. Leadership is not political science. It is something you learn through experience by taking care of your people. Your people make you a leader not your peers. IMO
Well I am not liberal I am quite conservative and the college I was attending was a Christian college same with my wife she went to a Christian college also. As I stated I was getting my degree in cross cultural communications. I was intending to go on the mission field and do mission/humanitarian work. I spent some time in Africa doing that very thing before getting married. Going in the slums and helping people in need(not just evangelism). I feel even in the military and in whatever career I go into after I well always at least try to do short term trips to help people in foreign nations if be humanitarian work or Evangelism. At this point in time My duties to my family limit my capabilities I have a very active 2 year old son who at this point is to young to take to other nations. The reason why I am saying all this is because you asked me who I have ever taken care of and have insinuated that I am like politicians who only care about themselves. Which is not the case. This conversation has seemed to have gone from debate to your character assassinations.
To your question
(Why would you make the assumption that I speak for everyone?)
well I assumed you where trying to speak for the majority not for everyone when you made this comment.
(Thats true, but I think most volunteer for the oppritunites and accept the risk as a trade off. After all its better to be shot at and missed then sh*t at and hit. )
you would of known that if you read my prior post where I stated
yes his coment is true for some but he said most and thats what my problem with his coment was.
also to your final paragraph about
If or when you end up in the line of fire
I agree 100% with everything in that one paragraph.
Your very welcome.
