There is no joy in Camelot

Well after a nice long month, I decided that it would be best to find a better home for my baby Mandrian, Merlin. I had rescued him from the Petstore that had no live rock for him to feast on, thinking that I might just have what it takes. But he was starting to get a little skinny after gaining alot of weight when I brought him home. So I called a brand new fish store, and they graciously took him into there wonderfully beautiful display tank to eat all the copeds he could ever find. I will miss him dearly.

Exactly, I just couldn't sit back and watch him suffer, and I hated calling all this place trying to find a good home for him, and them all saying, it only costs 10 bucks, why don't you just wait awhile and see what happenes. I was like, I am not going to sit back and see if he makes it, because it might be too late, and it doesn't matter if he cost 3 bucks, I would have done the same thing.

I had to take back my Mandarin after 3 weeks because I didn't have enough live rock. It was a real bummer. My lfs sells their Mandarins for 30 dollars a peice no matter what size. But they put my Mandarin in their giant 500 gallon live rock tank~!

I'm lucky then... my fish store will take fish no cost for me and hold them almost as long as I want!! When I had corals if it wasn't doing well I took it up the the fish store for awhile untill I felt I could take it back!!

Merlin went to a 100 gl. display tank. They were going to give me credit, but I wanted to make sure that he had a right home, and that display tank was great. You can by corals out of it, bu the fish or for looks only. I have not see a Mandrian around here for more than like 10 bucks, but there are other fish that you just don't see around here that you guys are always talking about.

You guys are really lucky to have lfs' that will take fish back. I like my lfs but they won't take anything back. I had to move once and stay in a place where I could'nt have my tanks for a couple months, they refused as did every other place in the phone book. They give you all your money back though if your fish dies within the first two weeks.

Well, everyone gets one way or the other. I am lucky if I can find a place that will repay you if your fish dies within the first 48 hours. (the fish do not transport very well in Texas, especially during hte HOT summers!) I have been trying to find a decent place to buy live brine in hopes of getting a sea horse, but more than 3/4 of all shipments are dead. But I can usually return a fish for either credit or cash (credit if I take the fish somewhere other than were I bought it, which is what would have happened to my Manderian.)
