What type of goby and blenny are you trying to keep? Brine and flake is'nt a very nutrtious diet. Try frozen mysis shrimp and vary the diet. Do they just die..or disappear?

There is your answer. They are unfortunately called gobies and blennies by the hobby, but in fact both are dragonets. They require an established tank, with alot of LR..and a good pod population which is being fed so that it reproduces. A refugium plumbed into the system is the best way to insure a safe place for pods to breed. Some will take to frozen foods, but it is'nt enough to sustain them. They need the pods...and a constant supply.

They need copepods. Pod is a term we use for many small crustaceans that come in with LR...copepods,amphipods,isopods. But scooters, and mandarins need copepods. You can seed a refugium with them..you can buy them online or in good reef-oriented LFS'. I have a pair of mandarins and several pipefish..and a hefty population of copepods. But I still buy copepods periodically to give their numbers a boost...a couple times a year. The pods eat algae..phytoplankton,so I feed the tank this every few days or so. The cost is approx $ 25. 00 per bottle of 1,000. If the tank is maintained properly, after the addition of the bottles you should see a bloom of them in a few weeks as the eggs hatch.
