They look like shrimp!

I just noticed that there are these things crawling around my sand and in the rocks. They scurring around like mice. They have mostly clear bodies with a dark line through them. They look like mysis shrimp but smaller. I can't post a pic because my camera will not take good quality pictures at a close range.

Are these them? This is an amphipod, a very good thing to have... your fish will love them.

Thats them! Is there anyway to increase their population? I don't have a fuge or sump.

LR will house them. You probably have tons of them that you are unaware of.

Alot of times they will form a small cocoon structure and live inside. They will just pop out and grab food floating by. The first time I saw them they had attached to the inside of my overflow box. They will crawl out at night as well. I have seen them in my tank up to an inch long. I have a feeling that once they reach this size they get eaten my my fishies....
You could add a large piece of sponge to the tank. I keep some behind the live rock. They will infest the sponge after a few weeks. Make sure it has large holes throughout. Good luck.

Be very careful about adding sponges (the non-living kind), most of the ones you buy in the store have detergents or anti-fungal stuff on them. You don't want either in your tank.
