recently when I moved my 50 into the 100 I got another clarkii clown smaller then the one I have had for months and months now with the hopes they would pair up. last night was the first time they were on the same side of the tank and bothe sleeping by each other. and today they are swimming all over the place together. so it worked I was going to trade her in on a pair of clowns to add at one time and this was a last chance to keep her.
here are some pics of them together/

I would love to do this with my sebae. It's been in there about 2 months and still small. What was the reaction of the original to the second and vise versa? Did you have your original more than 2 months? (I see you said months and months, but this is now hightened the "wonder if I could do this" idea.)
Also, on another thread I seen that you said your sponge died----was it the elephant ear? If so sorry, after all the help you gave me that just plain ol' sucks. Not to gloat, but mine is doing good. And Thanks Again for the ID.

I have had the first one for about a year I guess didnt seem that long but I guess now that I think of it it has.
I moved the 50 gallon wich was the originals home for the hole time I figured if I added another to that tank he would defend it from the new clown. when I set my 100 gallon up and was transfering everything I figured with all the disruption I might be able to add another smaller one and it would have more of a chance than if I waited so I did. the bigger one chaced the small one around for a couple of days and was sorta ramming him. the smaller one start a "Jerking motion" I guess showing his submission to the bigger one. that lasted for a day or so . the smaler one was sleeping in my hairy mushrooms or my GSP until the other night (the pisture above) and they they started running all over the tank together.
I think if you are going to add another to a tank that a clown has established as a teritory you might e able to rearrange the tank a little to confuse her to andbe able to pair up. just get another half or more smaller than the first.
as far as the spong yeah it died I made the mistake of where I put it the backside of the sponge was getting a lot of light and grew a lot of algae on it when I moved tanks I pick it up to move it to the new tank and the back of it started falling apart. the front still looked healthy but it wasnt enough to chance it finishing to detriorate in the tank and could have caused problems so I left it in the 50 gallon within a coule of days it and finished dying and all. I want to get another one but I wnat to wait until teh tank settles down from the move. I am glad yours is doing so well though....
