ya ino i wasnt going to add both to the 55, i was going to add the humu humu and the yellow tang to the 55, and then when i upgraded, add the niger trigger, would that work?

how big of a yellow tang? a 55 is too small for them. If you got lets say a 150 or bigger. You could house a few triggers.

I would get as small of a yellow tang as i can find to hopefully buy more time to upgrade. My lfs has some that are around an 2". Would that be small enough to live in a 55 for a year or will it outgrow it to quick? and i think i diecided on either a 100gallon or 150gallon long for my upgrade. Will the extra 50 gallons make a big diffrence on what i can keep?

i have a 2.5" humu that uses every inch of my 125 all day long. i couldn't imagine it in anything smaller for long periods of time.
zebras get big your best bet on an eel is a snowflake.
and DIY sumps are a piece of cake to do.
oh and id advise not getting a tang either.
a small puffer would be ok for a while, then a flame hawk would be cool

well a 55 gallon wont let you keep as much as a 100 gallon now would it? Id say go as big as you can. Not as big as you want with aggressive tanks. If you can do a 180 Id do the 180. If you can only do a 125 then you need to rethink your stock lost is all.
Obviously the bigger you go the bigger the fish can be and the more there can be of.

I think im going to start off in the 55 with:
Humu Humu trigger
Zebra Eel
Dogfaced puffer
then when i get the 150long add:
Niger trigger
Yellow or purple tang
So the final stock list for the 150long would be:
Humu Humu trigger
Zebra Eel
Dogfaced Puffer
Niger trigger
Yellow or purple tang
would that work out?

Just to let you know, puffers are really fast growers. If you must get a puffer for the 55 get it as small as you can.

Hmm... i never thought of keeping an eel... r they social or will i never see it? i really like the sound of that stock list. I already have all my live rock in my 55, and its already cycled. Right now, for filtration, i have a superskimmer 65 and one of those penguin bio-wheel filters(the actually bio-wheel things r out of itand its just temparary till i get a sump) and i wont be adding those fish till i get the sump. I was thinking about a DIY sump. Is this dificult to do? i was looking at somethings on them and they look pretty complicated...
My snowflake eel would eat out of my hand.
