the biggest help i could give you is this. if you want a mandarin, get a nice fat one. watch your pod levels because they will gobble them up. my biggest help in keeping mine is frozen prawn roe. nutramar makes it and alot of mandys really like it. once it sinks in the tank it stays there where a slow feeder like a mandy can pick at it. mine its about a dime sized piece 2 aday.

"Goby" is not entirely correct- they are both mandarin dragonettes, commonly called "green", "red", psychedelic, and "target" mandarins. You cannot have two males in the same tank, unless the tank is very large. You should not keep them in small tanks, as they require copepods to survive, which they will decimate in nano tanks. Some will eat frozen, however heavily enriched food will be required, as most foods do not contain the necessary amino acids- even if they're eating, they will starve. You can buy and supplement 'pods, but it is very expensive. Be sure to do a lot of research before purchasing this very finicky fish.

Agreed. Its a plus to the prawn roe. Its highly nutrious.mandys that do eat it tend to add weight. However not all will eat it. Mine does so iam lucky. I still throw a bottle of pods a month in as well . Just for variety.the. Hardest part w the prawn row is finding it. I get it online, but u pay for overnite shipping BC its frozen.
