thinking of adding some more sand

hi everyone i'm thinking of adding more sand will something get messed up if i put some new sand on top of my already live sand?

I don't think it will mess anything up but you have to add the sand very slowly over the next few days. If you add the sand all at once your tank may get coudy irritating any corals. Also be sure not to cover anything up like any corals or poylps, and if you have any corals don't get sand on them, this irritates them. Since the sand is so fine I would suggest putting some in a cup and pouring it very slowly to the other sand.

I have added 5 to 10 pounds more at a time without any ill effects.

thank you very much, i just have a last question will the fauna or live in the sand not be able to reach to the new sand or get killed by me putting on another layer?
