Is there any special foods that they need? I usually put a cap ful of "PhytoPlex" 3 times a week. Will this product feed him or should I be adding something else as well?
I placed one on hold at the LFS till I do my research. BOY this guy looks nice! I wanna keep him that way when I get him.
Lighting is
2 48" VHO
2 175W MH 20k
Tank been up for along time just now getting back to adding things in and getting more serious about my live stock.

with those light, i'd say yes. u might hv to put him near the top half depending on the depth of ur tank. maxima over 3 inches dont need feeding, but it doesnt hurt if u do.

just make sure your calicum is up to par.
i really don't feed my clam anything but what i feed my fish, an aged tank also helps a lot.

Yup, everybody's right. Clams less than 3 inches need fed phyto, I'd drop that Kent junk and go with DTs, much better stuff. Even though my Maxima and my, uh, other one lol, I still put DTs in once a week.

DT's is a brandname for a phytoplankton product. They boast that their phytoplankton species can live for the full 5 month shelf life in refrigeration. Supposedly other brands may use inferior phyto that will most likely die while being refrigerated after a short while. Personally, I use marine snow, but that's just what my LFS had...

Marine snow isn't that great, DT's is ok, I prefer Reed Mariculture, Randy knows his stuff, DT's has only 3 species, while Reef Nutricion(reed) has 6.

So my plankton should be refrigerated? Or leaveing it in the cubbard be ok? I have been doing this for a really long time and never heard that it had to be refrigerated.

like a previous user said, you might have to put him up higher in the tank on a piece of rock... make sure your calcium and other levels are what they need to be for a clam
as long as you have an aged tank with fish they should be okay and shouldnt need to be fed anything. i dont feed my crocea anything, just strong light. clams that are under 3" have a higher mortality rate
also would help the clams a lot if your bulbs were closer to 10K to 14K, i really dont know if 20K is going to help out with photosynthesis, maybe

No, many such as the kent or two little fishes brand do not need refridgerated...but IMO opinion they are not nearly as good as live, which needs to be kept cold.
