This green algea HELP ME

I have a 29 gallon. And i do have corals well i used to but now i took them out. and my local fish store I was talking to them and i have this nasty purple green black algea growing and they said take a razor blade to it. and well i did that and now it is coming back. I have cut off my lights to 6 hrs a day. What else can i do? I have 2 clowns and one purple doty back in there. Anytips? Im fairly new to the hobby. but i do know what some things are

Unsightly Algae is a never ending battle. Make sure when you scrape it off you remove it from your tank.

Test your water for nitrates and phosphates, the LFS can do that. Mexican turbo snail do a great job on algae, 2 will do fine.
