Lessen your feeding, do a water change, clean your mechanical filter if you have one, add a skimmer if you do not have one, look into a "refugium" to increase water volume and add macros to consume excess nutrients, cut down on lighting or change your bulbs if they are old or improper spectrum..that's pretty much it..
Oh yeah, more Live Rock and lose the CC if your using it...

i havent even fed them today at all, i just did a 7 gallon water change that lowered my salinity, i dont have a skimmer, my lights are only on for 8 hours and i just got a new lighting system, i have heard that its prob the new system but i cannot see algae growing back after only 4 hours!

"Sounds like" the new lights are causing the algae to "bloom" but, they are feeding on the excess nutrients to do so...
I bet they don't grow as much in the 8-10 hrs of darkness as they do in 4 hrs light...

Something is contributing to your algaes...provide all the information you can on your system...lighting/circulation/filtration/livestock/feeding/water chemistry...the more specificinformation you can post the easier it may be for members to help determine the cause and help with a solution.

get a test for phosphates as well, was it rodi water? if not that and new lights could defnetly give you a algae bloom

Or take some out if your tank is packed full.

sorry it has taken me so long 2 post and i won't be able to due to a sleeping bag malfunction when i was riding it down the stairs & now i have a broken hand in a full cast! but anywaz here is some info on my tank.........
29 gallon with:
2 damsels
1 clownfish
1 anemone
1 xenia coral
1 plate coral
1 blue linkia
1 marble star
2 bumble bee snails
15-20 blue legs, scarlets, & zebras
1 blood fire shrimp
50lbs live rock
i have a 130 watt PC with 50/50 actnic bulbs that was purchased feb 18
i feed once a day
top off tank once a week with ro/di water from walmart
i add a couple times a week: selccon, invert liquid food, iodine, calcium, stronium something, and chopped frozen shrimp/crab
my salinity has been a little high to about .026 so i did about a 25% water change to lower it and get rid of some algae but dropped it down to .019 so i am gradually bringing it back up currently my salinity is .021
my ph ammonia and nitrite i will post later when i can get help checking it b/c of my arm!
my filtration is a double filter that came with the tank that was bought at walmart it is for 30-60 gallon tanks & it has NO skimmer
i hope this helps! thanx!

Macros in your display is not the answer, they may help but they won't completely fix the problem and can create new ones.
A good skimmer will help you more than macro algaes would and has none of the drawbacks macros do.
Also, how often do you clean the filter screen/ replace cartridges in your filter? Trapped food in the filter will rot and quickly contribute to an excess nutrient problem.

It's to bad they don't have a plecostamus like for our freshwater tanks :joy:
I never have to scrape my freshwater tank. What about adding some more snails?
What ever you do, don't add those algae

to the tank. I don't know about salt water but in my freshwater I ended up killing all my fish using that stuff. I did it exactly as the directions said.
Hopefully someone will be able to help you. There is super advise on this forum, these guys and gals know what they are talking about
Good Luck :happyfish

Try doing small weekly water changes of 3 gallons once a week. With your size of tank, the best and easiest way to keep it nice and clean is water changes since it won't cost alot to do. You can stop the iodine, stronium. Doing weekly water changes will keep those all in check. I use the reef complete from Seachem tat has calcium, stronium and magnesium in proper ratios so you should'nt overdose. The selcon and invert food is just giving the algae nutrients. The chopped shrimp and crab could also be stopped or cut back . You want to keep your fish hungry so they search fo food all of the time and keep the tank clean. it sounds like you are just putting to much stuff into your tank.

Is that like a "wardrobe malfunction"
??
