my friend just played me "paper planes" by M.I.A. Its a catchy song, and i had it stuck in my head instantly. i wasnt familiar with M.I.A, so i decided to do a little research. im disgusted. one of the song's refrains is, "all i wanna do is (gunshots, cash register sounds)" which is bad, but not unusual in popular music. now i am in no way sensitive, and i listen to music that is a lot more... questionable... than this. after reading into the artist, i think i would rather slice my gums than pay her for her music. she associates herself with & supports militant and terrorist groups, (google the LTTE, or check out the wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberat...of_Tamil_Eelam , its a good read) and then goes on to call herself an activist for peace or a freedom fighter. and kids are paying her money because her message is catchy. gawd.
just thought id throw it out there. if youve heard the song, or are familiar with her, what do you think?
