Rotarygeek, thank you for what amounts to a public service announcement and a caution to people looking to use something for what it was not intended.
I hope your surgery goes well and you regain the feeling in your finger tips. I know it will take a long time for it as I cut a finger and lost feeling for probably a year before I started to get it back.
Again my well wishes and hope the surgery is super successful.

i had an incident when working on a 87' Ford Ranger trying to take off the front left fender.. Ended up cutting my tendon in my left pinky.. Had to go back to get the tendon re-attached, but it still doesnt work.. The tip of my pinky won't bend, even to this day.. And that was over 10 years ago..
Hope things work out better for you..

Gee thanks for the insparational story there bud.
I just got back from the docs and they said i go in for surgery tommorow. Gotta splay my finger open almost all the way to reattach the tendons, nerves, and arteries that were severed. Im gunna have an awesome scar.

i cant even see my scar.. good news for ya tho.. morphine! they will give it to u just before surgery.. lol.. had me crackin up at the people talkin and walkin by.. they had told me i had to take off all my clothes but could leave my underwear on with the hospital gown.. well, i went into surgery with my underwear on, and came out with it off.. of course my immediate reaction was to check and make sure they didnt tamper with any extra tendons!! all was in tact, lol..
be sure to follow the dr's advice after surgery.. i believe my finger tip wont bend now because the scar tissue on the sleeve of the tendon pretty much locked it in place.. he will tell you to exercise the fingers after surgery.. and be sure to ask him what all you should do, and follow it to the T! This will minimize your chances of the scar tissue inside to lock it up..
