Time for a Tang?

I have a 55gal I use for a QT tank (1 blue damsel and 1 Oc. clown) and a 72 gal BF display tank. Both tanks have been up and very stable for a year. I always wanted a Yellow Tang but I held off because my tank was not yet established and I am very fearful of Ich.
Is it time for a tang? If I keep it in the QT for minimum 1 month and I see no Ich is it really safe to then go display tank? Will it ich out from stress of introduction to the display tank? I know of the tang police so I repect their opinion on tank size and capacity.
Comments? Opinions?

if you wait for 4-6 weeks in the quarantine tank with no signs of ich, then the yellow tang won't have ich. you should be safe. i would say that a yellow tang would be a good addition to your tank.

After quarantening you should be fine, as long as this is the last fish to put in this tank. Your bioload will be greatly increased....they poop non stop. So make sure this what you really want.
How much space do the fish really have to swim in. I have seen 72g tanks that are jambed packed with rock, and others with plenty swimming space. Remember, tangs need lots of swimming space to be happy.
Feed algae sheets daily and you should be good to go, after quarantining of course. Get him use to feeding off of an algae clip in the qt and you should be ok.

I got the tang on the small size from LFS. He is doing well in QT but has not eaten off the clip. He does eat some flake I give to a clown in that tank and eats the small sinking algae pellets I offered. When the Algae in the clip deteriorate and floats around I do see him nibble once or twice. Its been about a week and no sign of him slowing down or losing color so I think he is eating well and nutritious. Oh - the QT is a 55 gal with lots of room. The DT has lots of free space as well.

It sounds like your tang is eating well, as long as its algae, doesn't matter in what form. Eventually he may take to the clip, some times it takes them awhile to catch on to it, keep putting it in the tank, and keep up with algae flakes/pellets, its all good

Mine take to the clip so well that they eat the seaweed selects out of my hand as I place it in the clip.

So far so good. Tang looks nice and healthy and is swimming well. I have watched him/her eat the sea veggies off the clip and I also at times have used some Algae flake just to make certain it ate.
I think one more week and I will move to the DT.
And yes, this will be the last fish in that 72 so I don't over crowd.
