Hey guys!
New to forums, but was wondering:
I was about to buy a small Juv emperor to keep in my tank for a while untill it gets too big and i will upgrade, but then the LFS said that the Yellow tang will most probably attack the small Juv emperor, is this true?
I tried removing the tang to keep him seperately while the Emperor settles in first, could this work?
Thanks

Yellow tangs are aggressive but towards other yellow tangs and tangs that have similar body shape. You should be fine with an angel, if you were to ask me the order of adding these fish I would say tang first and the angel the last fish to tank.

Yeah thats what i thought!
But the LFS think that them being similar body shape, may cause a problem, especially now that the Tang has found its territory.
I will give it a try and hope for the best.
Thanks

It'll stunt their growth regardless.
WHY not just get the proper fish for your sized tank in the first place and then when you DO upgrade, get the Emperor angel?
I hate saying this to you, but most people who say they'll upgrade... don't.
DONT be stuck with a foot long panther grouper that ate anything that came into the tank... I had that experience..... and my tank is almost 200 gallons.
I struggled to find someone who would take it in. In your case, it would be the Angel. Same point though.
And when I bought it.. it was also an inch long... and a very cute little guy that surely I wouldn't have trouble finding someone with a big tank to take him in.
It also just grabbed my heart and I couldn't resist it.
Well guess what, RESIST THE FORCE!!!!! It'll only help you in the long run dude!
You can get so many great fish for the 65... such as:
ANY dwarf angelfish
I don't know what else you have in the tank/the way it's set up.. but... you could keep, with the proper set up that we'd be happy to help you set up.... ANY Anglers or frogfish
Roughly 5 types of anthias, also, depending on what other fish you have in there and they way the tank is set up, but including the Bartlett's Anthias (Pseudanthias bartlettorum),
Bimaculatus Anthias (Pseudanthias bimaculatus), Carberryi Anthias (Nemanthias carberryi), and the Highfin Perchlet (Plectranthias sp.) They're harder to keep but are very cool imo
About 6 basslets, including the Black Cap and Tobacco Basslets, Chalk, Harlequin, and lantern bass.
I don't know how long your tank has been established, but there are a TON of blennies to chose from.
Some butterflyfish (if you do not have coral) (WHICH ARE BEAUTIFUL) but make sure you WATCH IT EAT AT THE STORE
About 8 cardinalfish, including the Kaudern's Cardinal (Pterapogon Kauderni) - which can be purchased tank bred - which would look a-w-e-s-o-m-e as a school
Soooo many chromis
Almost any clownfish, even the big ones (think Clarkii~ 5"+, was even a show fish in a 6' tank)
Firefish
If you have a tight fitting lid, and you want a single, but amazing creature, think Snowflake Moray eel!
If you don't have any coral, and you can watch it eat, take a look at the Foxface Lo
Longnose hawkfish, flame hawkfish, freckled hawkfish, or spotted hawkfish.
with the right set up, about 6 different lionfish
Honestly, you could even keep Kole or Bristletooth tangs...
About 20 wrasses.
And a lot more, if this list isn't enough...lol
Hope this helps.

Hey
Thank you so much for all the advice, i will take it into consideration, my fish shop does take fish in to sell on which does help, but i will deffinetly think about other fish, at the moment I have Juv yellow tang, 2 common clowns, Valentini puffer, Roya gramma, and a Clown Goby, i think i am going to slow down with the stock for now though, there seems to be alot of algae build up!
Thanks for the advice ! : )

No problem!!! Anytime! that's really nice that your LFS buys fish too.
I'm not against the tang that much (kind of, but you can keep it for a while), but if you want to keep it you're pretty much maxed out on stock... maybe you can add more depending on your filtration... but it sounds like not because you're already having algae build up! How long have you had the tank for, and if you need any help with the algae let me know!

I have had it 2 months now - some people say i have added alot of stock so soon, but some people say its ok. I'm not too worried about the algae, its that brown algae that grows on the glass and rock, but i herd that is normal for newly set up tanks.
: )
