If anything, just put the bubble in some reef dip so that you don't do any damage to the bubble coral. This will also provoke the shrimp to come out pretty quickly as well.
So what is your favorite reef dip, Ranch, French onion?

The corals tell me that french onion tastes the best. They get so angry when the LFS guy forgets to give them some on the side.

No, on a serious note, SeaChem's seems to be strongest. Besides, the bubble looks a little stressed anyway.
I prefer Reef Dip over straight Iodine or Lugol's because the Reef Dip is already pre-mixed to the right solution of iodine and water.

on a side note, what do your other corals look like? happy?
what are your phosphates at? at the beginning of a phosphate problem i had a long time ago, the bubble coral was the first to wither up because of it.

I caught a mantis a few months ago and I can tell you from experience that there are SEVERAL people on this board who will provide him with a home. If you catch him alive, post him in the classified section. I can also give you the names of the people who told me that they wanted him.

get a phosphate (PO4) test kit. salifert is the best brand IMO
I like Tropic Marin's phosphate kit much better than Salifert. Salifert still seems to be having problems with their test kits.
I have heard a lot of good things about Elos' test kits so I am going to give them a try. Supposedly they are incredibly accurate while being very easy to read and use.

i'm sorry but when my husband got home and i told him about the mantis shrimp, he killed him. i told him that there was a safe way to take him out without hurting him or the coral and that someone would take him. he called LFS and nobody wanted him, but i told him that someone from this site would take him and give him a home he wouldnt listen. i'm sorry thank you everyone for you info and thoughts.

Yeah, stemming back from the end of last year, a lot of their kits were reading differently than other Salifert kits in the same batch and there were big swings in their kits altogether.

Does he usually ignore you? Maybe this is your problem, not the late shrimp. Try the coat hanger idea. Poke your hubby with one, and yell DIE, DIE, DIE!!!
