unfortunately my dear, kick ich will do nothing to rid your display tank of ich. These "alleged" reef safe ich cures are usually pepper based. They irritate the fish causing it to excreet extra slime coat. The goal is that the ich wont be able to attach itself to the fish. Often these meds mess with your Ph. The problem is even if the parasite is unable to attach to your fish, its is still lieing dormant while it festers and multiplies in your tank. All will seem well for a while and then inevitably you will have another outbreak!!! Hypo is the way to go!!! Best of Luck!

Are these fish are only in a 44g now anyways, putting them into a 30 wont bother them that much more, if they are. you have a good workable plan with the hypo. Go with that. you need to act fast though as the little @%$#^%$'s are gonna come back with a vendence. I waited and lost 4 fish in 2 days because of it. They are multiplying now so do the hypo and let you DT run fallow. Use the filter from the DT, as much of the media as you can get, I think you also have a wet/dry dont you? Is there any way you can use some of the bioballs from it? Try to gather as much bacteria laden media as possible and incorporate it into the QT. A bio wheel would come in handy right now. A better option IMO would be to switch the wet/dry to the QT and run the HOB on the DT for the duration, your bio load will primarily be in the QT. You will probably be OK if you move the wet/dry.

I 100% agree. The LFS got you to buy another product, they succeeded in their goal to sell stuff. Do the hypo.

I am glad that you have decided in favor of hypo. The kick ich would not have done the job. Trust us, we deal with this stuff on a daily basis (through helping people with their parasitic problems on here).
