and i'm so excited now.....
my mom and i went to the lfs the other day, and she was telling them about her pulsing xenias that grow like friggin wildfire in her reef tank. first she's going to give me some, and hopefully when i get my false perc he will host in them. and the guy at the lfs said he would buy some off of me! i know i'll only get like 5 or 10 dollars a piece for them, but for a broke college student, i'm happy!!
i want to get a clownfish so bad... my mom has a false percula in her 10 gal she'll give me, but i saw a mated pair of black false percs (way too expensive for me at $99!) but i'd love to get one of those instead, so i'll be keeping an eye out in case they get any singles...

how many days can those auto feeders work??? that would be awesome if they work well, cause i will definitly need one soon enough! if not, it might just be a slightly more difficult passage back home during breaks...... oh wells, ill make it work

i'm pretty sure they were false, they were almost completely black except for the white stripes and some orange on their faces. they also had a black percula, who looked the same except he had yellow. liked the orange much better.
and i'm not sure yet how long the auto feeders work, i haven't gotten to looking yet, since i don't need one for a couple of weeks at least. when i do find one i will let you know. now, off to dinner!!

went to the lfs yesterday, and they had 2 different auto feeders. they'll feed flakes or pellets and such, and you set how much you want fed... the one i looked at fed every 12 hours. and one held more food than the other. i guess how long they go depend on how much you want them fed.

Hi everybody I just started attending St.Leo University in Dade City Florida. I just brought up my 75 Gallon reef tank from home and it is now set up in my dorm room. The room temps perfect for a tank so I am happy about that. Every one from my hall comes and sits in my room during feeding time lol! Anyways, glad i brought it from home. I have a 110 gallon aggresive and a 36 reef at home as well. Good luck to everyone!

wish i had room for a bigger tank in my dorm, 5 gals is all i have room for. and we're only allowed a max of 10 gals anyway. but i don't think they thought anyone would do saltwater either...

Down here at Texas Tech University (Lubbock TX), GO red raiders! I have had 10g nano for about a year now.(only thing that will fit in an apartment and still leave me with a lot of run to actually walk around in)

Hey guys, had a question for all you fellow collegiate aquarists! Okay, so I have been looking at starting a nano tank in my dorm room for the last month or so. I had originally been thinking of getting a 6gal nanocube and just going from there, but recently, a friend of mine said they have a 10 gal just sitting at their house and no one is going to use it (because they had upgraded to bigger tanks). WHich do you think would be easier to deal with in the dorms, the 10 gal or the nano cube??? My biggest problem is going to be taking care of teh bioload when i am gone for an extended period of time, but i guess i can address that when the time gets closer.... anywho, lemme know what you think. Im pretty sure that i will be accepting the 10 gal (cause i mean come on, who doesnt want a free tank!!!) but not sure if will keep that for a future project or set it up now. Thanks for the help!

the nano cube will have the filtration (some you can keep, other parts are trash) and it will look much nicer- the 10 gal you will have to buy everything and it will be all crammed in
btw, i'm

[hr]
and i go to earlham in indiana

i would definitely do the smaller tank. it will look nicer, w/o all the stuff hanging off the back... and there's only so many electrical outlets!!! :scared: i have an eclipse, so all the stuff is in the hood, not on the back, so it takes up less room and i think it looks nicer than the cubes. only problem though is mine scratches! i bumped my big chunk of lr and put a nice little scratch in the front of my tank!

someone else also posted that the nano cubes have a bad problem of cracking and leaking. another thing you want to consider, since you'll have to move the tank at least a semi-long distance sometime!
