To all with Durso standpipes

For all of you who have the Durso style stand pipe, or even any standpipe inside your tank for drain down to the sump/fuge/wet/dry..whatever.
Have you ever had to remove it to clean it or get an obstruction out of it? If so how often have you had to do it?

I have pre-filter sponges on my AGA 125 RR. There is a float in the stand pipe that get's kinda grungy but I don't think it's a problem. I do wash out my pre-filter sponges when I do my monthly water changes.

I take my Stockman design stand pipes out about once a year and knock em around for a while just to losen up the big stuff that builds up....These are 1.5" on small end and 3" on the big end. I'd thing for smaller pipes you'd want to clean em out a little more often.

While I've had mine running for a year now, I've never had to clean them. I do clean the prefilters ounce a week. I do have a brush with a long handle, that I could use to clean the pipes if neccessary.
