To anyone with a Bak Pak Skimmer

i have ordered one from my LFS(should be here next week) and i need to know how far it goes off the back of the tank. If it hangs off the back alot i'll have to move my tank forward some so if anyone that has one, post a picture of you Bak Pak Skimmer please.

At the max. my bakpak extends almost 4 1/2 inches out from the back of the tank. If there are no obstructions to the output pipe, you can actually move the skimmer forward a bit and have it extend 3" from the back. I have the glass top and my lights that do not let me move my bakpak forward anymore, so I am stuck with the 4 1/2".

what model do you have? is it the first one or the second one? and how do you change how far it hangs off the back?

I have the 2R. To change the distance just push it forwards or pull it back.

i don't know if you can see the picture i attached but i was wondering if it was 4 1/2 inch. from the back of the skimmer to the little thing that puts the water back in the tank?

No, it is 4 1/2" from the edge of the tank to the back of the skimmer.

but you can make that 3" with no problems?

Not on my tank. You can see in the picture that the output pipe on the skimmer is right up against the light fixture and the glass top I have on the tank.

ok sorry but i'v got one more question. How far is it from you glass top to the side of your tank

and how good of a skimmer is it and how long have you had yours

Sorry it took so long, kinda lost this thread.
From the glass top to the back of the tank is 2 3/8".
I've had mine since I started my tank in March. Great skimmer and keeps the tank very clean, but I would recommend you get the Maxijet 1200 pump for it and replace the Rio 600.

well Viper its ok that you didn't responde sooner because its now three weeks since i ordered the skimmer and my LFS still hasn't gotten it in yet. I live in VA and it has to come from cal. so it was supose to take 4-5 business days to get it here by UPS ground but it hasn't gotten here yet so what should i do now? should i just wait for stupid UPS to get it here or what? and should i be mad at the LFS?

IT FINALLY GOT HERE:joy: :joy: :joy: lol. I have just finished installing it. But i have one question. In the collection cup there is just alot of white bubble spilling into the cup and then the bubble turn to clean water. Why is it like this and i wanted to know if i was doing anything wrong. I fallowed the direction like it said and i made it so the skimmer was full of little bubbles so i don't think the air intake is wrong. And now the collection cup is about to overflow so where did i go wrong and how do i stop it from over flowwing?

Raise the collection cup a bit. The water that gathers into it should be brownish/green. And you should only need to empty it out every 3 days to a week, depending on your bioload.

if i raise it up, then the bubbles can't make it over the top of the cilender in the cup
