To bioballs or not to bioballs

Hello,
I have a 75 gallon tank with about 100lbs of live rocks. I first had 55 lbs of live rocks and a wet/dry filter with bioballs for my tank. I had recently added another 45lbs of live rocks and was wondering what should i do with my bioballs. So I take them out or just leave them there.

In my opinion, once you're running your system using plenty of liverock, you don't need to use bio-balls. According to numerous articles I've read, using bio-balls instead of liverock is an outdated practice. One firm suggestion, though: Remove the bio-balls slowly. Depending on the amount you have, about one to two hanfulls daily until all gone.

I've heard that if you have bio-balls, your nitrates will be higher. But I have them in the wet/dry of my 40 gal and my readings are <5.0.
I've read that you can remove them (slowly, as stated above) and replace them with live rock rubble from the local lfs!
Anyone ever heard the same? Or actually tried it?
