i've the opportunity to get a foxface for free tonight.
90 gallon,

would it be a good match?

Should definitely work. I have heard of Kole's not welcoming newcomers, but that is rare. Just make sure the lights are off for a couple hours after you add the Foxface.
BTW, there are a couple types of Foxfaces, which is this guy?

Ren, I have had (4) in my 29 biocube. I purchase them small at around 2" and return them to th LFS at aroun 3.5", with fat belly's and in good shape. I use them to control Caulerpa outbreaks. Just took # 4 back to the LFS last night. They are great fish, will eat anything algae wise, docile and sociable.
DO EET!

Spot is in the DT after a few weeks QT. Put him/her in last night when the lights were off, and two corals and a rock were on my sand this morning...
then all of a sudden... splish splash
Kole tang with caludal (sp?) fin whacking foxface, foxface all spikey and discolored pokin at kole tang...
they've calmed down and are friends now, but both have some damage from the experience...

ok, having a little trouble with the foxface. It was missing half it's tail fin, and didn't eat much for a week in the QT. since then, its been eating decently and the fin has grown back most of the way, but i noticed yesterday that it still seems a little thin.
I've fed it what i normally feed my fish (sera flakes, mysid shrimp, home made mush) and all my other fish are nicely fat. I have been putting in sheets of sea veggies, and while the tang likes to eat a little of it, i end up taking most of it out before it clogs up my pumps...but the foxface doesnt touch em.
he's not nipping the corals, not chewing on the algae growing on the rock/glass like the tang does.
what else should i try to get him to eat?

But he is eating the other food? If so just give him some time, he will fatten up. Keep trying the sheets, and watching to see if he is munching at all on the algae in the rockwork. Probably still a little freaked from the initial introduction. IME they are quite skittish to begin with and couple that with a minor war in the beginning well probably needs some time.

yea, he's eaten the other food, and the kole IS such a piggy that maybe the foxface is still a little intimidated... i think i still have some sea veggie's preflaked, i'll try adding some of that too. those sheets have always been a waste in my tank it seems.

My foxfaces ripped those sheets to pcs. I always bought the Sushi sheets from the grocery store though. A lot less expensive. If you do just make sure they do not have any spice additives.
